The poet seems to labour the viewpoint of a heathen and ascribes a godlike position to nature much along the way the Greeks did in their time. He then proceeds to object personification along with simile, metaphor, resource and breaks in syntax to insure how we have fallen aside or strayed from what nature meant us to be.

The poem starts off with the lecture in the title, “The world is in like manner much with us, late and soon”. This croup be interpret as how at times mountain can heart as though there is no recess from the world, or no way to “get aside” from ourselves.
